My second blog, the first was really just a test!

Aloha Everyone,

Thought I would take a moment and sit still and ponder the enormous amount of beauty that surrounds me. The enchanting sounds of the myna, cardinals and my little love bird "Coco Bean", awaken us at the crack of dawn. In the early dawn hours, the sun bursts over Haleakala and straight into our bedroom. The volcanic crater that peaks at 10,000 fe
et is just this amazing mass of rock that we set out eyes on first thing in the morning. WOW!

Its Saturday morning 6:15, and I have loads of energy today. Marten and I went to the Kahalui market today and gathered our vegies for the week. Fresh shallots, Kula onions, amazing yellow zucchini, avocados, strawberries and host of other goodies. We were all done by 7:45. Came home and picked some sweet mangos from our tree and then went for a walk on the beach. The tide was really high and we walked about mile and a half, trudging through the sand. Good for getting y
our buns and legs in shape. Tossed the Frisbee for a bit, but it was very gusty.

Lots of people here on the beach, body surfing, surfing, kite boarding, kayaking, paddle boarding, swimming, snorkeling and diving. I think that covered all the activities that were taking place around us. No one more fishing! It was a great morning!

Frank, Marten's brother stopped by. He is here visiting with his wife Lynn and their three kids, Jamie Lynn, Jordon and Jonathan. Frank invited Marten to golf at Kahali, which is just below King Kamehameha Golf course. Both of these courses were abandoned at a young age due to water restrictions, but both now offer exceptional golfing. The club house, at King Kamehameha is 76,000 sq feet, is three stories and boasts a men's private club. This has been graced by some of the most celebrated folks of this century. The club house was originally designed for Marylin Monroe but at a much smaller scale. After her passing the owners contacted Frank Loyde Wright and the rest is history. This is an exceptional golf course with less than 100 members. Marten has had the pleasure of golfing here.

It is now 4:22, and I am going to make some Pico de gallo (fresh salsa) for our guests this evening. Moka and Java (he is resting his on Moka's back) our two wonderful pooches, are vegging on the sofa. And Coco Bean is nestled in her outdoor condo. The sun is just starting to peak out, so after I am finished making my salsa, I am going to go and catch some vitamin D.

Aloha for now,
Deborah G
